Breast Augmentation

Beginning with an extensive consultation with our expert Plastic Surgeon, you will be able to discuss your goals in order to identify the most appropriate implant size and projection for breast augmentation that will complement your body frame. The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic and involves surgical insertion of breast implants to increase the size and shape of the breast. Placement can be under or over the muscle, subject to the desired result, and scarring is discreet and minimal – if the placement is under the muscle, we strongly advise a one night stay in a hospital to allow access to suitable painkillers. 6 week recovery period.

Pre Treatment Advice

We advise our patients to follow a healthy diet and exercise regime prior to surgery to aid recovery and healing. Do not smoke for 2 weeks prior to surgery and reduce your alcohol and caffeine intake. Your practitioner will discuss any medication you are currently taking and will advise on any adjustments if necessary prior to surgery. Thoroughly wash the breast and chest area with anti-septic the night before and day of the operation.

Before Surgery

Before the procedure, the patient is typically given anaesthesia to ensure their comfort during the surgery. This may include local anaesthesia, where only the targeted area is numbed, or general anaesthesia, where the patient is asleep during the procedure.

The night before

You may need to take time off work and make arrangements for post-operative care. It’s important to plan ahead and make necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth recovery.

On the day

You will be provided with full post-operative care instructions. You will possibly have surgical drains fitted at the time of surgery to prevent infection, which will be safely removed at a later date. You will also be provided with a surgical bra that should be worn 24/7 for 6 weeks.

Recovery time

4-6 weeks

After care

We recommend sleeping elevated for the first 2 weeks as you will be swollen and may experience some discomfort. Abstain from work and driving for 2 weeks and refrain from exercise for 6 weeks post-op.

We recommend the use of a bespoke Galen IV drip treatment plan for 3 weeks to aid recovery and healing.
