Surgical re-shaping of the nose is a very common procedure to address concerns about its shape, and it can both increase or decrease the size of the nose depending on your preference and the overall appearance you would like to achieve through the treatment. Directed by our world renowned plastic surgeon, the shape of the tip, the bridge and also the nostrils can be changed to achieve your desired profile, as can the angle between the nose and the upper lip. In some instances, breathing difficulties can be corrected at the same time as the aesthetic corrections are being done. A one night stay in hospital is required.

PRE-TREATMENT

Pre Treatment Advice

We advise our patients to follow a healthy diet and exercise regime prior to surgery to aid recovery and healing. Do not smoke for 2 weeks prior to surgery and reduce your alcohol and caffeine intake. Your practitioner will discuss any medication you are currently taking and will advise on any adjustments if necessary prior to surgery. Your skincare regime will be discussed and may need to be adjusted in the weeks prior to surgery.

Before Surgery

Before the procedure, the patient is typically given anaesthesia to ensure their comfort during the surgery. This may include local anaesthesia, where only the targeted area is numbed, or general anaesthesia, where the patient is asleep during the procedure.

The night before

You may need to take time off work and make arrangements for post-operative care. It’s important to plan ahead and make necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth recovery.

POST-TREATMENT

On the day

You will be provided with full post-operative care instructions.
We recommend you sleep with your head elevated for the first 7 days after treatment, avoid bending forward, refrain from sports, and do not apply any products or make up in the nose area during this time. The nasal pacts will be removed the next day before you leave the hospital – you will be provided with saline solution to wash the naval cavities and a nasal ointment.

Recovery time

4-6 weeks

After care

The cast will need to be removed 1 week later as an out-patient. Recovery takes 6-12 weeks and you may experience swelling and some discomfort during this time.
