Stem Cell Skin Rejuvenation

BACK TO ALL POST-TREATMENTS

Stem cells form the foundation for regenerative medicine which refers to medical techniques that enable the body to regrow, repair or replace damaged cells or tissues. This treatment harnesses stem cells from a small sample of fat obtained from the patient’s body under local anaesthetic. After an enzymatic digestion and centrifugation, the fat cells are removed in order to obtain SVF (Stromal Vascular Fraction) in a liquid form: the resulting mixture contains mesenchymal stem cells, endothelial/projenitors, pericytes, fibroblasts and other cells which work together to stimulate the long-term production of collagen and elastin when re-injected back into the body. The mesotherapy technique is used to target the lower layers of the skin with the injectable fluid derived from your fat; stem cells promote youthfulness in the targeted area by shielding cells from the eroding effects of ageing, bringing longevity to your revitalised skin. The treatment can also be used to enhance wound healing or to treat auto-immune or infected skin lesions.

PRE-TREATMENT

Pre Treatment Advice

Skin must be clean of make up and any skin care products or creams prior to treatment in both the donor and treatment area. To reduce the risk of bruising, avoid using blood thinners such as aspirin 1 week before treatment or anti-inflammatory medicines (such as Ibuprofen) for a couple of days before treatment. Do not ingest alcohol within 24 hours of treatment.

Before Surgery

Before the procedure, the patient is typically given local anaesthesia, where only the targeted area is numbed,

POST-TREATMENT

On the day

Keep the treatment and donor area clean and dry and do not re-apply make up in the treatment area for 12 hours.

Recovery time

There is no downtime or recovery time

After care

Sleep with your head elevated for the first 3 nights post-procedure. Avoid exercise, alcohol and extreme heat for 24 hours after the treatment. A pressure garment should be worn on the donor area for one week after treatment. We recommend taking arnica tablets (200ch x2, 3 times per day for 5 days) and applying cold packs to the affected area for 12 hours following the treatment. Do not book any facials for the first 10 days after treatment.
