Breast implants augmentation, also known as breast augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure that involves placing silicone, or more rarely, saline implants to enhance the size and shape of the breasts.
HOW DOES BREAST IMPLANTS AUGMENTATION SURGERY WORK?
The surgeon will make an incision in a pre-determined location on the breast. There are several common incision options, including inframammary (in the fold under the breast), periareolar (around the areola), transaxillary (in the armpit), or transumbilical (through the belly button). The choice of incision location depends on various factors, such as the type of breast augmentation implant, the patient's anatomy, and the surgeon's preference.
After making the incision, the surgeon will create a pocket or space for the breast augmentation implant to be placed. There are two main options for implant placement: subfascial (over the chest muscle but under the breast tissue) or submuscular (partially or completely under the chest muscle). The choice of implant placement will depend on the patient's anatomy, the type of implant, and the surgeon's recommendation.
Once the pocket has been created the surgeon will carefully insert the breast augmentation implant using the Keller Funnel, which is a new technology that minimizes the contact of surgeons hands with the implant. The main benefits of using this method for a breast implants augmentation are smaller incisions, reduced risk of infection and less stressful to the implant.
