About
Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure that is performed to reduce the size of the breasts and reshape them to a more proportionate and desirable size.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The surgeon makes incisions on the breasts in predetermined locations based on the desired breast size reduction, breast shape, and the type of breast tissue to be removed. Common incision patterns include an anchor-shaped incision (Wise pattern), a vertical incision (lollipop), or a periareolar incision (around the areola).
The surgeon removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin from the breasts to reduce their size and reshape them. The remaining breast tissue is then repositioned to create a more youthful and lifted appearance.
The nipple and areola complex as part of the lifted breast tissue will be secured in its new position on the breast in order to achieve a more natural and proportionate appearance.
