BACK TO TREATMENT LIST
Following a mastecomy, some women may lose confidence and a decreased sense of femininity owing to a lack of fullness in the breast. For many, reconstructive breast surgery is a corrective procedure that can restore the body to its previous shape, taking into account preferences and desired appearance, in turn bringing confidence and a sense of self back to the patient. The breast reconstruction procedure that is best for you will vary depending on the results you desire, your particular situation and other mental and physical determinations - all of which will be discussed with our highly experienced plastic surgeon.

Breast reconstruction with a latissimus dorsi flap is a surgical procedure that uses a flap of muscle and tissue from the latissimus dorsi muscle in the back to reconstruct a breast mound following mastectomy or other breast cancer treatments.
During your London breast reconstruction, the latissimus dorsi muscle is accessed through an incision made in the back. The muscle is carefully separated from the surrounding tissues and then rotated to the front of the chest along with its overlying skin and fat to create a new breast mound. The blood supply to the flap is preserved by connecting it to blood vessels in the chest using microsurgical techniques.
