About
Breast uplift surgery, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that aims to lift and reshape sagging breasts without the use of implants.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The surgeon makes incisions on the breasts in predetermined locations based on the degree of breast sagging and the desired outcome. Common incision patterns include around the areola only (periareolar), around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease (lollipop), or around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, and along the breast crease (anchor).
The surgeon lifts and reshapes the breast tissue by removing excess skin, repositioning the nipple and areola to the correct point and more importantly tightening the lower drooping part of the breast. This will give a more youthful and lifted appearance.
Once the desired breast shape and position are achieved, the incisions are closed using sutures and a special skin glue. The incisions are typically placed in inconspicuous locations to minimise visible scarring.
