About LIP AUGMENTATION SURGERY
Fat transfer lip augmentation, also known as fat transfer to the lips or lip augmentation with autologous fat grafting, is a cosmetic procedure that involves using the patient's own fat to enhance the size and shape of the lips.
HOW DOES LIP AUGMENTATION SURGERY WORK?
The first step in a fat transfer lip augmentation is to select a suitable donor site from which to harvest the fat. Common donor sites include the abdomen, thighs, or buttocks. The patient and surgeon will discuss and determine the best donor site based on the patient's anatomy, desired outcome, and availability of sufficient fat for the lip augmentation surgery.
The surgeon will then perform liposuction to harvest the fat from the selected donor site. Liposuction involves making small incisions and using a cannula, a thin tube-like instrument, to remove the excess fat through gentle suction. The harvested fat is typically processed to purify and prepare it for transfer to the lips.
Once the fat has been harvested and processed, the surgeon will carefully inject the purified fat into the lips using small, strategically placed injections. The fat is injected in small amounts to achieve the desired shape and volume of the lips.
