HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Lumecca handpiece, which emits high-intensity pulses of light, is applied to the treatment area. The broad spectrum of light emitted by Lumecca is designed to target specific chromophores in the skin, such as melanin (responsible for pigmentation) and hemoglobin (present in blood vessels). The exact settings and parameters are adjusted based on your skin type, concerns, and treatment goals.
Lumecca uses a principle called selective photothermolysis. The pulsed light is absorbed by the targeted chromophores while sparing the surrounding tissue. This controlled and selective heating of the target cells or structures triggers a photothermal response without causing harm to the surrounding skin.
In cases of pigmentation concerns (e.g., sunspots, freckles, age spots), Lumecca's intense pulsed light is absorbed by the melanin in the pigmented cells. The heat generated helps break down the pigmentation, leading to a more even skin tone.
Lumecca can also be used to treat vascular lesions, including spider veins and broken capillaries. The light energy is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood vessels, causing them to coagulate and be gradually absorbed by the body.
Additionally, Lumecca stimulates collagen production in the skin. Collagen is an essential protein that provides structure and firmness to the skin. Increased collagen production can lead to improved skin texture and reduced fine lines and wrinkles.
