About
A neck lift, also known as a neck rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is designed to improve the appearance of the neck by tightening sagging skin and muscles, reducing excess fat, and addressing other signs of aging.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The surgeon makes small incisions typically in inconspicuous locations, such as behind the ears and/or under the chin. The length and placement of the incisions may vary depending on the patient's anatomy, desired outcome, and the surgeon's technique.
If the neck muscles are lax or separated, the surgeon may tighten and reposition them to create a more youthful neck contour. This is typically done by suturing the muscles together to create a firmer foundation.
If there is excess fat in the neck, the surgeon may remove it using liposuction or direct excision techniques. This helps to reduce a double chin or excess fullness in the neck area.
After the muscles and fat have been addressed, the surgeon trims and removes excess skin. This helps to eliminate sagging and wrinkling in the neck area.
Once the underlying tissues have been tightened and excess skin has been removed, the remaining skin is carefully repositioned to achieve a smoother and more youthful appearance.
